Barbara is mom to 2 kids. One of whom has autism. She has a corporate background in educational technology where she worked over 10 years with educators to ensure student achievement. Barbara transitioned out of corporate work to concentrate on helping her child with autism.  She was the owner and photographer at MajorMoments photography for 9 years servicing weddings and special needs family portraits. She has been active in the special needs community doing advocacy and outreach for 12 years. She is the founder and facilitator of Parents as Peer Advocates – a group of parents in San Diego who gather to learn and support each other in their children’s special education.  She is a member of COPAA, the council of parents, advocates and attorneys and regularly participates in other law, advocacy and special needs groups. She is a highly rated speaker and enjoys sharing her humor and experience at parent groups and community events such as IEP Day.  Barbara received her certification as a Special Education Advocate from the University of San Diego. She has experience working as an independent special education advocate and has worked for Special Education Attorney’s doing paralegal work and special education advocacy. Barbara enjoys photography, reading, writing, camping, GFCF cooking, pets and football. She enjoys spending time with both of her teen sons, close friends and her husband.
